Agnes found lots of morels on her trip to Wallowa County, OR.
Agnes had a lot of excitement this month. Most importantly, she helped Devin celebrate the release of his first book of poetry, Shame | Shame, at our local bookstore. Both she and Rufus listened fairly attentively as Devin read his poems and received lots of excellent laughs from the Moscow audience. We also took our first overnight trip to Wallowa County, OR to visit our friends Zanni and Frank, Eric and Belinda, and Mary B. The weather was rainy and cool, which was perfect for morel hunting. Agnes also stayed out too late with us at Terminal Gravity Brewery and we discovered what happens when our baby is truly overtired: She repeatedly falls asleep in my arms while nursing, then wakes up screaming the second you try to put her down. Devin finally got her to sleep after midnight. The month ended with Denny Becker's first visit to see his granddaughter. She was so happy to meet him and to see Grandma Nancy again too. Developmentally, Agnes really started discovering her hands this month, and she loved to put her thumb in her mouth while jabbing herself in the eye with her index finger. This often resulted in an eye full of blanket fuzz, which you can remove with a squirt of saline solution and some cries of protest.
